01 Communique Announces Strategic Development and Licensing Agreement with Hitachi Business Solution Co., Ltd.

TORONTO, ON – February 20, 2002 – PC messaging and communications company, 01 Communique (TSE:ONE), today announced a strategic development and licensing agreement with Hitachi Business Solution Co., Ltd., a group company of Hitachi. 01 is working with Hitachi Business Solution to localize the I'm InTouch remote access service for commercial availability in Japan. As part of the agreement Hitachi Business Solution will become the master-licensee of I'm InTouch in Japan, marketing the service to Japan's leading wireless carriers and PDA manufacturers. Further terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to figures from Eurotechnology Japan K.K. in 2000, more than 80% of the worldwide mobile Internet users were from Japan, compared with less than 1% in the U.S. Japan's Telecommunications association indicates that there are about 50 million mobile Internet users accessing the Internet wirelessly through NTT DoCoMo's imode, KDDI's EZWeb or J-Phone's J-Sky. This number represents about two-thirds of all mobile phone subscribers in Japan. Although email is the most commonly used application, basic service offerings have limitations for business users, such as the need to use a new email address and the inability to synchronize phone-based messages with the office PC.

01 Announces Agreement with Hitachi Business Solution Co. Ltd.

I'm InTouch enables a business user to send or respond to email from their phone while retaining their original business email address. It integrates with a user's Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express email so messages that a user responds to or initiates remotely are processed at the user's PC without the need to forward messages or synchronize. The service also provides access to Outlook's calendar and contacts, as well as any files on the PC or a networked drive. In addition, I'm InTouch includes the ability to remotely monitor up to four Web cameras attached to a PC, an application that can run on devices designed to take advantage of the most recent mobile Internet advancements in Japan.
